I didn't appreciate it at the time but reading post like this makes me realize how lucky I was to have very liberal parents who weren't JWs. I brought Jehovah on myself but you guys (Terry and Band on the Run) had him and his crazy ways forced on you.

While the world stood still with tears and sorrow....
by Terry inon friday, november 22, 1963, i was in high school in the cafeteria in fort worth, texas sitting at a table filled with school chums.. my jehovah's witness buddy, johnny, was back from shaking john f. kennedy's hand in front of his hotel earlier that morning.. he and his family were (oddly) big fans of jfk.
go figure.... .
not less than ten minutes later the speakers in the cafeteria crackled to life and the principle, g.b.trimble announced that president kennedy.

Just resurrecting an old saying from around the time some very wise men (gag wretch) believed that Christ returned in 1874 AwareBeing.
The best method I have found to keep elders or for that matter any Jehovah's Witness away from you is to start thinking.

I'd say go to Hell was an appropriate response. She was being dragged into their collective insanity. Why allow yourself to be manipulad into the role the Watchtower expects you to play as a DF'd person. Allowing a child to see their mother treated like that would be very confusing for them so why let it happen.
If she wants to be polite about it she could tell them they're all crazy and offer to get them help.

You are doing the right thing asking around before you give up what you have. I'm wonder if you are guaranteed 50K or is it what they are telling you you could earn? Is it salary plus commission or are they paying you a draw against your commission? If it is straight commission I'd say forget it. What is their turn over rate? Another thing you can do that might give you a pretty good idea of just how good the pay is at that company is to look around their parking lot and see what kind of vehicles the employees (not the executives) drive. If possible speak with people who work there. Look around the web and see what you can find out about the company.
I also like the parachute book and have used it to get ideas on how to look for work when I have been unemployed.
Like AGuest I not expecting you to give answers here but think about these things.

Visions of Glory is my favorite book about the Watchtower in general. I don't know if you'll remember this Randy but Vision of Glory was going out of print when I first left the Witnesses. I purchased every copy I could from different bookstores. I believe you bought several of them from me. I think your roomate may have come down to my place to pick them up if I'm remembering correctly. For years I had two copies of it but a few years back I sent my second copy to LovesMeNot who posted an article on your site who I've know since I first got online.
I also have Barbara's book "An Accidental Autobiography" which also touches on her life as JW. It really bummed me out when I heard she passed away. She wrote with so much feeling. I think she was great.

Pretty much anyone here as long as they're buying.
Actually I think I'd enjoy having lunch with most of the people here.
CyberJesus is in my area and we have had lunch several times. The biggest surprise I've had in a while was finding Dagney was a friend of mine back when I was a JW. We had lunch together last week.

1914 a 100 Years on.
by Twisty ini was thinking that in 2014 or possibly 2015 a lot of witnesses will start questioning the organisation and we might even see a mass exodus.. i know at a stage i thought 2014 wow a hundred years surely the end will be here by then.. do you think the fact that it will be a 100 years since 1914 might trigger a lot of leaving and questions?.
or possibly they will still follow blindly, especially since the overlapping generations could go till 2070 or something?.
there very well could be a mass exodus type of domino effect since many are there sometimes whole families because of one strong mate/friend/relative, and one seemingly "strong" person leaving could take a few with him and make many more question, thus the domino effect.. thoughts.. .

Even though it isn't a milestone in the eyes of the Watchtower and I'm sure they're hoping no one will even bring it up it will be something a lot of Jdubs will be thinking about. However trying wake the mentally dead isn't easy. I'm sure a lot of them will just float along accepting any garbage the Watchtower chooses to print. There are plenty problems with the Watchtower's teachings right now yet a large portion of JWs just zombie there way through life not questioning anything.

Band on the Run, The last Driod I had was an HTC. I can't tell you how many times I dropped it. Several times without a cover. The back flew off and the battery fell out. I put it back together and it worked fine.

I do miss the stock turn-by-turn navigation of Android, but the maps application on the iPhone is generally good enough for my purposes.
Good point. I used the my navigation to meet Dagney for lunch yesterday it took me right to the Restaurant in the LA area. It is a crowded area and it would have been more difficult to find without it. It verbally informs you step by step how far to go and when to turn.

I just got the Droid Bionic a few weeks ago. I love it. It does things a lot faster than the other phones I have had. I've never had an Apple so I don't know anything about them. My brother-in-law has an Apple and is thinking of going to a Droid because you can't pull the back off and change the battery yourself. He said it will cost him $200 dollars to have them change the battery.
